Gillingham - Birmingham 1 (home)

The Gills went into this game having won our previous three league games and with Preistfield becomming something of a fortress. The confidence showed when we went a goal ahead in the first half when Birminghams Darren Purse headed the ball into his own net. A beauty of a header shame it was at the wrong end!

Hope already had two chances to his name but his 5th minute header was blocked and Birmingham keeper Bennett denied him from a Ozzie corner.

Until The Gills went ahead Birmingham didn't have a single shot on goal.

Marcelo, who scored both of borminghams goals in Sunday's 2-0 win over Coventry, put his header wide from very close range. However he should never have been alowed to receive the ball.

Geoff Horsfield had a chance to equalise but put a good Martin Grainger's cross wide of the near post.

Bennett was then forced to make a fine save from Ipoua in the 39th minute to keep the score at 1-0.

Birmingham got off to A great start in the 2nd 45 David Burrows going close with a short-range effort.

In the 63rd minute Birminghams efforts paid off, Marcelo jumped at the near post and headed Birmingham's equaliser, there was little indecision from the ref....the ball defenatly crossed the line, Ozzie had his foot in the back of the net in an effort to dig it out.

Gills brought on Paul Shaw as a late substitution and he well could have snatched a late winner but failed to do so. It was ascrappy score draw kind of game and a scrappy score draw was what came out of it. Never the Less a good performance and another point and one less loss!!!!!! However we still haven't beaten them yet.
